About Gold Lion Creative Founder: Talya G.

Hello, my name is Talya, I’m currently 31 years old. Welcome to my new website. I just thought I’d let you know a little bit about me and my background.

I struggled for a long time figuring out what I wanted to do for a career. Growing up I thought about being an author, then an actress and finally an artist. By the age of 27, I got bored just working and decided to take classes at my local community college and just took what I found interesting. I signed up for a short online graphic design class. Oh wow how my views on design changed. There’s so many different aspects of graphic design. There’s print design, illustration, social media, web design, publishing, etc. I realized that I wanted to be a graphic designer and tried to apply for their graphic design associates program.

There were over 200 applicants and they only chose 20 for the program. Of course, I didn’t get in. I was so bummed. Later I researched online universities and found a good one. I got into SNHU, got a BA in graphic design and media arts and graduated January of 2023.

Later, I ended up coming up with my business name Gold Lion Creative because it’s a play on words with my last name Golian. I also chose a lioness for the logo concept. It was perfect. They’re the hunters and they get the job done.

I also became obsessed with social media. While I was at SNHU, a lot of my electives were digital marketing classes. I didn’t want to get a whole other degree so I studied for an online Google Certificate for digital marketing. It was tough but I learned a lot. I’m so glad Google offers certificate courses. Apparently, it helps you get hired and everybody trusts Google. They’ve been around a long time.

A lot of my design internships revolved around social media management, creating posts and reels for social media business pages. I really love it. Everyday, I am learning something new. In both graphic design and social media marketing, there are a lot of changes including recent trends, so you are quickly challenging yourself to try something new.

My first summer internship, I created social media posts for a marketing company. My main client was a pet boarding company. I love animals and jumped at the chance. (I hope to be a graphic design and social media manager for an animal shelter or similar one day.) After that, I did a 8 month long social media strategy internship for a cause I’m really into. It was an awareness campaign to stop antisemitism. I contacted influencers, made posts, thought of campaign ideas, etc. and in one day got 1.8 million impressions. It was super exciting!

Then I worked for over a year as a social media design intern for a book marketing company. I loved my boss and coworkers. I got close with the CEO and he taught me a lot. Sadly, they didn’t have the money to hire so I moved on. I am currently an intern for a sewing and quilting manufacturing company. I do their marketing including social media, email, and print. I have been working there since May and I really love it!

I decided to quit my non-design job at a hotel I’ve been working at for four years. My last day is later this week. Even though my current internship job is paid it’s low hours so I’m challenging myself to either find another part time job on the side that is in my career field or trying to find clients for my own business. I’m excited to make more time investing in my business. I’d like to make time for creating better posts and reels, maybe signing up for a freelance website, work on my marketing, and maybe even joining a networking group. I’m really excited about this new chapter in my life. For those who are following me and reading this blog, I appreciate the support.

Last thing about me: I have a silly, quirky personality. I love to help clients with their marketing and graphics needs. I’m obsessed with cats and create my own funny web comic strips online. (It’s called Rainbow Cat and it’s free to read on Webtoon.) I spend a lot of time drawing digitally. I have a kitty named Calcifer, he’s a long-haired orange tabby. I also enjoy comedy shows including stand up comedy!

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Threads!
